The UK government has set up an online shopping portal for food and other items.
The government is using the British Pound to buy goods online from retailers in the UK.
It’s the first time a UK government is allowing the purchase of online products in the country.
The UK government says the service will help retailers “increase the number of online shoppers and boost the quality of their products”.
It’s an “important step” in the fight against the “divergence” between retailers and shoppers, it added.
The online shop will initially only allow purchases of food and food products, but the government plans to expand it to include other categories.
Food items such as biscuits and cereals, meat, dairy products and fish and chips will be available for purchase.
More than 60,000 shops in the United Kingdom have already signed up to the scheme, the government said.
